Jane McGonigal is a game designer, she created a healing game for those with problems from like a concussion for example. That helps to trigger chemicals in the brain that is similar to what drugs do, but without drugs. The healing game is called, “SuperBetter”. She has gone through a serious concussion herself and with the help of her family and friends she discovered through research and study how games could help. Her first game was “Jane, the concussion slayer.” With this game she helped herself recover and she wishes to do the same to others.
Games can help patients similar to drugs by activating chemicals in your brain, such as victory, reaching your goal, completing a mission, beating a boss, friendship, etc. Or even watching the Seahawks make a touchdown(if you’re into football). And she talked about the four resilience, and how boosting these four resilience: physical, mental, social, and emotional, can increase your life span.
Physical: don’t stand still for more than an hour.
Mental: mental focus, like trying to count from 50 to 1, something that helps you train your focusing skills.
Social: talk to, message, or play with somebody at least once a day, or touch somebody like shaking somebody’s hand.
Emotional: curiosity, happy, anything that is a positive emotion.
