The Holly Danger Series is a six-book series written by Amanda Carlson. It is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth 150 years in the future, where a meteorite had killed a large portion of Earth’s population upon impact and covered the atmosphere in a thick layer of ash and debris, effectively killing off all who did not have access to UV lights, housing, and a source of food. Which is where Holly Danger, the protagonist, comes in. Holly, with her tight-knit group of survivalist scavengers Dolby, Bender, and Lockin, scour the surrounding area of their territory collecting intact or fixable tech and supplies to make a living in a near desolate environment.
Holly’s group is expanded by newcomers and led into a plot that only deepens as the books go on, secret government organizations and programs, a tyrannical military group, scientists, rebel groups, important unknown family connections, and a flotilla previously thought of as a legend.
The series protagonist is a strong capable female character, led by her strong will and moral judgment, facing each situation with wit and skill. Holly is a touch arrogant at times and overly strong-willed, but fiercely loyal and protective. A female character many will come to deeply care about as the story unfolds.
Amanda Carlson keeps the book at a fast but steady pace, describing the setting and characters through situations rather than just overly describing each section, as some authors do. The rich character development mixed in the story makes the series very relatable and thus attaching, where you come to love and care for each character, to create quite an enjoyable story.
The Holly Danger Series is my second favorite series, next to the Marko Kloos Frontlines Series, and I would highly recommend it as your next read.
