This book I recommend more for men than women. Meg Wolitzer’s book is describing the lives of a friend group of girls who attended college and begin work, but when they had children they took time from work. Now the book, The Ten Year Nap, is describing their feelings and sentiments about their college years, raising children, and then going back into work. Their experiences with their husbands and children, their response to the wonderings of many on what they do all day as “full time” moms, and other situations couples can experience, like a drop in sexual interest from overworking and fast days or living by an assumption of what you think your spouse thinks of you.
It is an extraordinary book for those seeking new experiences and situations to contemplate. A good eye-opener to what it may be like for women in a marriage. This is why I said I’d be more likely to recommend it to a guy, though a girl would probably like the book too. Whether or not the situations are real and true, it would help men to be more empathetic and encourage men and women to support good communication and sharing in their relationships.
