Graceling – Kristin Cashore

I have trouble falling to sleep because I don’t try to stop thinking and fall asleep. So, I decided to listen to an audiobook to focus on instead of thinking. But… I got so engrossed, mostly because it did turn out to be a romance, that I thought even more, trying to imagine the story. Which caused me to never go to sleep, just lay there until I had to get up in the morning.

It’s a fantastic story. Well, I am a hopeless gushy romantic. It’s set in medieval times. With a twist where people are born rarely with “graces,” powers for a specific aspect, called gracelings. The two main characters, for example, have a grace for survival and the other for sensing thoughts towards him, feelings, and his surroundings.

It is primarily about the two main characters resisting a powerful king who has the grace of convincing people he’s correct, Katsa overcoming her fears and oppressors, and later Poe handling his injury. It is a happy ending. Worth reading, or listening to.
