The Crown Agents Series – Lindsay Buroker

About a week ago I finished Lindsay Buroker’s Agents of the Crown book series in audiobook format on Youtube. It is a five-book series with somewhat similar patterns of plot in each book. But by no means repetitive or degrading to the quality of the story.

It is the character development and the personality of each character combined with the riveting plot that makes this series great. It is not a surprising plot where you are constantly guessing what is going to happen, but it isn’t predictable. Obstacles and new information come into the story without seeming convenient.

Lindsay does a good job with the romance of the story too. It is capturing, but also healthy. The romance isn’t used to drag the reader through the book by sexual tension to compensate for subpar writing, as some do. Though, this book doesn’t hold back on character thoughts and feelings toward relationships.

Below is a screenshot of Lindsay Buroker’s Youtube page.

This screenshot is of the last audiobook in the series, “Dragon Tear.”

The story is set in a Lord of the Rings kind of setting, there are dwarves, Elves, Orcs, Trolls, Humans, Dragons, Unicorns, etc. Within the story, which drives a good portion of the plot, are magical stones called dragon tears that people can use to perform or amplify magic.

The main character Jev comes back from a war with the Elves in the beginning. He has a band of friends and comrades that he works with throughout the series. Namely, an Elf named Lornysh, a Dwarf named Cutter, and humans Hidal and Targyon, who becomes king.
