The Hobbit book was quite different from the movie. Both minor items and major events were different. The dwarfs’ personalities, the battle, the Elven king, and events surrounding Gandalf. It was a better ending than the movie, everyone ended more happy, and things worked out more or less okay. Better than the movie.
