My first encounter with this series was the animation adaptation, which has now covered almost a quarter of the series. The Chinese animation is very faithful to the series, which is nice. Going online, I found a free version to read on my phone, though often using a text to speech app to listen to the series while driving and going to sleep.
Battle Through the Heavens is a huge universe based on qi like energy and spiritual cultivation. It follows the life of a talented young man who overcomes obstacles and threats to his family, and perseveres with determination and resolve. There are multiple romances, as that is a normal thing with Chinese culture, but there is only one girl he truly loved and pursued a life with. The series is huge and moving. Based on word count, it is four times the length of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It is definitely a commitment to go through all of it, but it is so worth it. The journey is amazing.
